On Thursday 25th September, a group of 12 students from Year 10 and Sixth Form had an exciting opportunity to visit Cerulean, part of the Coesia Group, as part of National Manufacturing Day.
The students were given a full tour of the company, including the manufacturing area, where they learned about Cerulean’s products, services, and the supply chain involved in producing each piece of equipment.
A highlight of the visit was a practical electrical engineering challenge, where each student built a small levitation device from scratch. The activity involved soldering and problem-solving, pushing students outside their comfort zones. Every student successfully completed the task and got to take their creation home—a fantastic achievement!
The group also met a range of apprentices working at Cerulean, learning about the different levels of apprenticeships and career progression opportunities. Students were able to discuss marketing, business operations, and apprenticeships, helping them understand the links between school learning and the world of work.
Feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive, with comments including:
- “I loved it”
- “I wish we could have done another practical task”
- “I loved learning about marketing in business and apprenticeships”
On average, students rated the visit 8/10, reflecting their enjoyment and engagement.
During the visit, staff and students noticed how the values of the Coesia Group closely aligned with those of Stantonbury School, highlighting shared expectations and standards. Cerulean were so impressed by our students’ enthusiasm and professionalism that they have invited Stantonbury students back next year.
This visit was a brilliant showcase of Stantonbury talent, curiosity, and achievement. A huge well done to all the students who attended!
